For Staff Development on Friday, May 1st, faculty gathered in the Library for an informative presentation on Google Apps for Education, a suite of productivity tools including Gmail, Drive and Docs. It was designed hand-in-hand with teachers to help them save time, keep classes organized, and improve communication with students.
Included in the suite is Google Classroom, a tool that helps teachers create, assign, and collect student classwork and homework paperlessly. With Google Classroom, teachers can seamlessly integrate Google Docs, Google Drive, and Gmail to create assignments, provide feedback for in progress and completed work, and communicate with their students directly and with whole class announcements–all without using a single piece of paper. Students can work on assignments in Google Docs and turn it in with a few clicks.
Faculty gained knowledge of how to implement Google Tools in their classrooms as St. John’s continuously works to create a 21st century classroom environment.
