Summer Journalism with Sofia Celeste

sofia

The summer Journalism course at St. John’s provides students in grades 6-12 an intimate look at journalism as a career. The goal is to educate students about the journalism profession, including how to conduct an interview, develop quality-questioning techniques, and write in journalistic style. Subjects include reporting, writing, editing, interviewing practices plus principles of photojournalism, graphics and newspaper design.

Students will learn from a seasoned print and online journalist, Sofia Celeste, who is a Milan-based Italian and American writer. Her articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, The Boston Globe and Women’s Wear Daily. An experienced financial reporter, Sofia worked for Dow Jones Newswires for four years, specializing in the Italian luxury goods sector and macroeconomics. She was raised on Guam and is excited to be back home teaching Journalism for the summer at St. John’s.
