Kevin Oberiano, Class of 2014

Kevin Oberiano, St. John’s Class of 2014, Interns at the Prestigious Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland.

Oberiano is majoring in Business Marketing and Professional Golf Management at New Mexico State University. The program trains future professional golfers who intend to join the golf industry.

As a part of the program, students complete multiple golf internships in the summers of their college careers. After a competitive application process, the staff at Carnoustie Golf Links chose Kevin as theirsummer intern. He will be working at the Professional Shop assisting in sales and marketing for course merchandise to an international clientele.

Golf has been played at Carnoustie for well over four hundred years. Their famous Championship Coursewill be home to the professional major golf tournament, the British Open, in 2018.

In addition to catering to the professionals, the course prides itself in developing global ambassadors for golf. Kevin, recognizing this mission, wrote that “This internship would be an honorable and unforgettable experience of a lifetime, as it would help me become an ambassador of golf for areas of the world where golf is developing such as my home in the Pacific.”

In addition to Carnoustie, Kevin has interned at Anchorage Golf Course in Alaska in 2015 and plans to work somewhere just as interesting next summer.

Kevin was a Knight on the golf team for his four years at St. John’s.
