SJS students win awards in KL

Amidst the numerous young, international delegates that participated in the inaugural International Royal Military College Young Scientists Conference and Exhibition (i-RYSCE), St. John’s School brought back home various awards from different categories. Among these students who garnered awards were:

Leya Yang — gold medalist in biology
Anne Wen — gold medalist in environmental science
Alexandra Chua — silver medalist in physics
Allister Liu —- bronze medalist in environmental science
Kevin Min and Sissie Luo — bronze medalists in biology

The conference took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last July 10 to 15 and was hosted by the Royal Military College (RMC) and National Defense University Malaysia (NDUM). The event welcomed participants from around the world including Malaysia, Guam, Australia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the Philippines.

During this event, students presented their individual research in the fields of mathematics, computer science, physics, life science, and environmental science. Presentations were judged by international and local experts.

The St. John’s School students were accompanied by Upper School Science teacher, Ms. Arlene Chua, and the Assistant Head of School – Middle and Upper School, Mr. Robert Kelley.
