Alumni, family, friends and the whole St. John’s community are invited to “Bring on the Memories” on Saturday, September 16, at a special 55th Anniversary Dinner and Silent Auction in the Dale Jenkins Gymnasium. The money raised at the dinner will go towards enriching St. John’s Fine Arts programs.
The event will start at 6pm with a silent auction viewing, to be followed by a delicious dinner. All participants are encouraged to “dress your decade” to help savor the nostalgia.
The evening will feature music and entertainment from the 1960s through the 2000s and will offer an opportunity to watch our talented drama students, hear the St. John’s concert band, 80 piece symphony orchestra, string orchestra, Glee Club singers, individual performances, and special faculty, staff and parent performance.
Our 80 piece Middle and Upper school orchestra consists of members that have competed in regional and national competitions. They have recently performed at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and Hong Kong Disney.
The Glee Club currently has 40 members and has won several music festivals on Guam including the TBMF (Tumon Bay Music Festival) and Agana Shopping Center competition. They have participated in school events like the Christmas Concert and Spring Concert. At the 55th Anniversary, the Glee Club will be singing two songs, “Aquarius” and “September”.
Our very own faculty member and opera singer, Rachel Miller, will be performing an arrangement of the aria, “Il dolce suono” by Donizetti. The song was performed by Diva Plavalaguna in the movie “The Fifth Element”. Miller has a BA in Vocal Performance from Briar Cliff University and an MA in Vocal Performance from Texas State University. While attending school in Texas, she performed with the San Antonio Opera Company.
We are honored to present our talented artists and hope you will join us, dressed in your favorite decade, for a wonderful St. John’s evening on September 16.
Tickets are $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10 and can be purchased online here. You may also call St. John’s School at 646-8080 for questions or to reserve tickets.
