St. John’s School held its annual lower school musical recital on May 4 in the school chapel, showcasing the musical talents of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students. The Lower School Choir, directed by Mrs. Rachel Miller, opened up the recital with a medley from the Dr. Seuss Musical. Solo performances were then followed with the young talents exhibiting their instrumental prowess and passion in violin and piano. Closing off the musical recital, the Lower School Dance Club flaunted their rhythmic moves and enthusiasm by dancing to the upbeat music of Meghan Trainor’s “No Excuses”.
Shortly before the Lower School Musical Recital, the After School Music Program also had its year-end musical recital with after school teacher, Mrs. Judith Nicholson.
Through St. John’s active lower school music program and early exposure to performances, budding musicians develop and hone their musical skills at a young age. Moreover, recurrent all-school concerts and chapel services create opportunities for students to share their music with fellow classmates and the St. John’s community.
