Five St. John’s students did exceptionally well in their respective divisions at the 2019 Young Artist Competition on January 23 to 24. The competition was held at the University of Guam Fine Arts Theater and was welcomed with twenty-four young musicians from Guam and Saipan, all vying for placements within their age division: Elementary (3rd to 6th grade), Junior (7th to 9th grade) and Senior (10th grade and above).

The competition consisted of two rounds. During the first round, performers were given up to five minutes to perform a portion of a musical composition of their choice. Eleven selected artists then advanced to the second round where they performed a complete movement in front of a public audience.

Congratulations to the following students:

3rd Place – Jamie Xu (5th Grade), Violin

Junior Division
1st Place: Kasey Xu (8th Grade), Piano
3rd Place: Kayley Kang (7th Grade), Flute

On February 10, the winners earned the opportunity to perform at the 2019 Young Artists Concert, a concert dedicated to showcasing their talents at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
