3rd Grader, Carmel Mariano wins 2nd place in GHS/OCD Poster Contest

Congratulations to third grader, Carmel Maria Mariano for her second place win in the Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) Elementary School Poster Contest for the 2nd and 3rd grade category. In celebration of National Preparedness Month (NPM), GHS/OCD promoted the importance of planning and preparing for man-made and natural disasters throughout the month of September. “Prepared, Not Scared. Be Ready for Disasters” was this year’s NPM theme.

Student artworks incorporated the theme of “What does your emergency plan look like?” and provided emphasis on how one’s family can prepare for a disaster.

Left to right: Mr. Rolly Zepeda (art teacher), Mrs. Jorgi Flores (third grade teacher), Carmel Maria Mariano, Mrs. Michelle Untalan (Assistant Head of School for Lower School), and Ms. Patricia Bennet (Head of School).
