During these times of social distancing and stay-at-home orders, the St. John’s NJHS members came up with the idea of creating masks as a way to continue their community service mission. Over the past four months, NJHS members Nina Taitano (Pres.), Sydney Packbier, Vinh Nguyen, Billy Mann, Knathan Davis, Grace Kang, Vinicia Kim (Vice Pres.), Jerrick Palomares, and Jamie Xu (Sec.), along with advisor Mrs. Denise Mathews, coordinated with Global Dorms Executive Director, Diana Calvo, to facilitate the delivery of handmade masks to Global Dorms, a homeless shelter managed by Catholic Social Services. Through their tireless efforts, they have not only produced about 60 masks for those in need, but also inspired others to make large contributions of their own, with one benefactor donating over 1,000 masks.
The donation of masks was delivered on Wednesday, December 9.
